Vitamin L and Prefuse 73

Hey guys! I've been working on a new mix over the past few days, hopefully getting it finalised over the next few days if I find the time. So expect a free download coming your way in the near future!

Today I have 2 things I'd like to share one is a program for use in conjunction with Ableton and the other is an album that I'm really excited about.

Vitamin L

First of all, I found this nifty little program called 'Vitamin L'.

It's a 'workflow enhancement tool' which means it lets you do some of your most used actions in the click of a button. Not only that but it lets you remap your keyboard as you want as well. Could be handy for DJs or Producers alike.

Here's website containing the download link:

I've heard of people using it to map their midi controller to as well, but I'm not at that stage just yet so can't really explain it!

Prefuse 73: The Only She Chapters

One of my favourite artists of the moment has a new album out! It sounds pretty weird from the sample (from the warp website). Less of the oldschool hip hop vibe and more of the trippy dream sequence type stuff. Can't wait to hear it properly now! Here's the sample:

That's it for now, expect my new mix over the weekend!

Dubstep Tune (Unfinished)

Here's a new tune I've been working on recently for a bit of fun. It's a bit of glitchy dubstep made using Ableton and Massive (tutorial post here).

I don't really like dubstep that much any more, there's too much of it and what I've heard is really samey and cliched. But I have been wanting to make something for a while so thought I'd finally give it a go. It needs a bit more work but I'm liking the sound up to now even if it is a bit obvious.

Hoping to get it finished over the next week but my computer is playing up for some unknown reason. It's stopped recognising Massive on this one tune of mine which is quite annoying. Might have to start all over again (if i can be bothered). Anyway. Here's the unfinished version:

Hope you enjoy it!

Massive VST Tutorial Video

A few weeks ago a fellow blogger told me they'd been using Massive VST and asked if I'd post a tutorial for it. Well I'd forgotten that I had it and forgotten how good it is! Here's a really helpful tutorial I found. It's split up into 13 parts but is totally worth watching them all. It's based on dubstep but most of the stuff he says is applicable to everything. I learnt loads of stuff that I didn't know. The guy knows his shit.

Glitch VST FREE DOWNLOAD

It's free download time!

http://illformed.org/plugins/glitch/

All you need to do is download the file then drop the .dll file into your 'VST' or 'Plug-in' folder and make sure Ableton knows where to look for it in your preferences (it's under the 'File Folder' tab).

Glitch VST is a really helpful little plug-in to use with Ableton live. You can run either audio or midi sounds through it so whatever you are doing in Ableton - you'll be able to glitch it up in seconds. It's great for live performance and especially handy when DJing. You can set faders and buttons on your midi controller to control any part of the interface which is really handy if you want to affect the way Glitch VST works and sounds in a live setting. It's also really easy to use so you can make some really cool sounds with very little practice. Here's a video to show you some of the capabilities!

If you make any music using this VST  be sure to email me at:

Enjoy!
